Featured Event: Room Forty Planner Tasting

Last year we had the pleasure of working with Steve Fortunato of Room Forty on a wedding at Vibiana for clients Tracy and Kramer.  Throughout the process I loved working with Steve and co. and was moved by his passion.  Steve impressed me with his ability to produce something new that I had not seen before and it motivated me to want to share him with others.  I decided to produce an intimate, well it started off as intimate, tasting for him with a collection of some of LA's best wedding and event planner's, along with a handful of our industry's top bloggers and PR friends.

Collaboration is so important on an event such as this as I was designing and producing an event for my own.  Such a task, but I felt so confident bringing in a few of my favorite vendors to do it with me.  I often refer to my wedding and event vendors for specific events as my dream team. When I'm blessed with the privilege to assist a client with hand picking the very best fit for their event it's always such an honor and truly special.  When it's my event and I get to hand select vendor's who I believe would work well together it's equally special and always so fun!  This event was such a labor of love and I cannot begin to express how much I appreciate our team and of course Room Forty for inspiring this design!

Here are a few of my most favorite photos from this event as captured by the ever so stylish Ryan Garvin of Ryan Garvin Photography.

Loving the entire stationary suite created by the uber talented Jen of Prim and Pixie.  Her designs are incredible, she's so modern, elegant yet always playful and I'm so grateful for her creativity and artistic ability.

It's no secret that Vibiana is one of my all time favorite locations ever, not only was it my own wedding location but it also is the venue to a handful of weddings we do each year which really make it feel like home.  For this particular design it was really important to me to infuse the glamour and elegance of Vibiana with the rustic yet modern vibe of Room Forty.  I did this so much through our rentals which were provided by Maureen Harkness of Classic Party Rentals.  Maureen helped me incorporate all of the wood I desired which included this amazing Wood Back Chameleon Chair.  Maureen further told me at the luncheon this chair was actually the original Chameleon Chair which then made me love it even more, I started calling them "vintage chameleon"...

Shawna Yamamoto Event Design handled all of the florals and then some for this event, including our awesome escort card display and parting gifts.  We always collaborate so well together, it's like a napoleon effect, once we start we just keep adding layer after layer of sheer beauty.  This event shows that effortlessly, from the herbs to section the tables to the mirrors to let people know where to be seated, I just loved every last detail.  Especially the plant with love parting gifts in the burlap pouch at each setting.  I'm so thrilled with how she took the Room Forty brand and translated this to our table incorporating real artichokes, herbs and even kale.

All of our lovely linens and placemats were handmade by Designer Specialty Linens.  Dahlia is not only one of the sweetest most endearing people ever, she does amazing designs.  She created something extra special for this tasting, a new line your about to see more of, hint hint... These custom place mats were definitely a labor of love as each stitch was done by hand!  Aren't they amazing!

The table was one long 42-foot span but as planners we all know we needed a bit more direction as to who would sit where or it would be frenzy trying to figure it out.  So we came up with naming each section an herb or ingredient that was featured with in the menu.  I really loved this because as you see above, part of their take home was the fresh herbs to plant.  Plus of course the table smelled incredible even before the food starting coming out too.

Room Forty really went above and beyond with the menu, even the cocktails were thought about!  It was great to see all of our guests reactions.  Cell phones were snapping course after course!

I love their style of service too, the wood planks are my favorite but this soup dish below was served like this and then at each setting the broth was poured fresh... So neat!

Another favorite detail of the day was the parting package we sent guests away with as they departed.  In case hours upon hours of a 9-course meal weren't enough, we spoiled them with a make-your-own salad kit, recipe cards, a thank you note made by Jen for them to use as they wish and a neat little package that included all of the event collaborator's details...

There were a handful of blogs that have been so kind to write stellar posts about this event and I'm so grateful for their support.

Sterling Buzz: Featured on Bizbash, Jet Fete and Style Me Pretty!

We're on the front page of Bizbash and I couldn't be more thrilled!  Bizbash is one of my all time favorite weekly reads and the opportunity to have one of our events covered is so special.

It's been quite some time since I've updated the blog with some recent press and this post happens to include some of my all time favorite buzz to date!  Having a degree in Journalism where my emphasis was in Public Relations makes any feature or spot we receive extra exciting for me. It makes me feel as though I'm putting that education to good use!

First, I'd love to share an article we were able to be a part of written by Mitra Sorrells.  I was so excited to share my opinions on Pinterest and how I've been able to use my boards in my day to day activities.  This article focused on what event pros are using this mega site for and Mitra even featured one of my boards!  So neat and such a good surprise!

Next, I was so honored to have the opportunity to share some of the details about a massive series of corporate events we recently produced.  This project is something I'd worked on for months and months and the design truly came together to perfection.  While this article covers the final closing event, there were two additional events that week which I'll be sharing hopefully soon!

Be sure to read the beautifully detailed article written by the always amazing Alice Dubin!

Next, I was so thrilled to have our very first destination wedding featured on The Bridal Bar's Jet Fete blog.  Have you been there and seen how amazing this blog is, it's dedicated to all things destination and a favorite read of mine, especially when I'm looking to escape!  Check out Brandie and Ede's featured Parker Palm Spring's Wedding!

Last but not least, I was ecstatic when dear friend Holly Steen of Cakes and Kisses Photography had her wedding featured on another favorite blog, Style Me Pretty!  We helped Holly last year with her Dodger Stadium 4th of July Wedding and couldn't be more thrilled for her and the wonderful detailed post they did on such a special day.  Check out this Baseball Love Story!

As you can see it's been very busy around the office and we've had so many fun and exciting projects we were honored to be a part of.  I love sharing them with you and hope to update you with more fun things in the next few weeks.  So stay tuned!

Sterling Buzz: Featured in Bride and Bloom Magazine, The Bridal Bar Blog & South Asian Bride Magazine

I'm so excited to share with you today all of the recent press we've received over an incredible photo shoot we were a part of with Shawna Yamamoto Event Design for Bride and Bloom Magazine.

The concept was built around a tribute the magazine was doing on iconic fashion designers.  We were assigned to the ever so extraordinary Alexander McQueen.  I was thrilled about this as it really opened up an amazing platform to be different and go crazy in the best way possible.

When Shawna and I collaborate, I often feel as though we are unstoppable and there is no limit.  Once we got started and discussed what color palette we'd be working with, I created these really fun inspiration boards.  Check them out along with a few of my favorite photos from each look, captured by the amazing Ashleigh Taylor of Ashleigh Taylor Photography

My Fave Mondays: Fantasy Frostings

Something to appreciate about Leslie Maynor and Fantasy Frostings is her passion and desire to make a dessert and not just the wedding cake. So often we find clients interested in doing dessert bars, candy bars, a dessert within their coursed meal, cupcakes etc... While these are all delicious, the one thing these items happen to do is take away from that fabulous wedding cake! What we love most about Leslie and her team at Fantasy Frostings is they make beautiful cakes that taste just as decadent as they look! This is why they are our favorite pick this week.

Fantasy Frostings is a family owned and operated business on the West Coast, opened by Joyce Maynor 30 years ago. While they do bake up whatever you wish to order, they definitely specialize in Wedding Cakes. They understand that an unforgettable cake is essential to any wonderful event. It embodies all the elements of style, beauty, and taste that a party represents.

Their attention to detail, outstanding customer service, and unmistakable taste have earned Fantasy Frostings recognition from some of the nations most prestigious food, wedding, and lifestyle magazines including:
● In Style
● InStyle Weddings
● Bride’s Magazine
● Los Angeles Times Magazine
● Elegant Bride
● Los Angeles Magazine
● People
● Modern Bride
● Angeles Magazine
● Grace Ormonde Wedding Style 2003

Numerous wedding books have also highlighted Fantasy Frostings’ cakes including:
● Weddings a Celebration - Beverly Clark
● Town & Country - Elegant Weddings
● Here Comes the Guide - Wedding and Reception Sites

The Fantasy Frostings Menu includes the following...
We love the Chocolate Fudge Surprise and Marble Chip!

White Satin
A moist, luscious, old fashioned white cake sprinkled gently with Grand Marnier and filled with layers of white chocolate mousse and shaved dark chocolate alternating with Raspberries on a bed of whipped crème.

Chocolate Fudge Surprise
Dense, Dark Chocolate layers glorified with hand beaten fudge, dark chocolate mousse and a rich layer of ganache with crushed English toffee. Our tribute to all world class chocolate lovers.

Lemon Squeeze
A sunny lemon pound cake enhanced with a perky lemon sauce and filled with a tart English Lemon Curd alternating with tangy lemonade mousse for a great taste sensation.

Banana Walnut
A rich cake batter laden with fresh bananas and walnuts, lightly spiced and filled with fresh bananas and whipped cream or if you prefer a soft banana cream.

New Orleans Spice
A soft, lightly textured cake generously flavored with cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves with a gentle splash of brandy before baking. A soft cream mousse is the favored filling.

14 Karat
Pineapple, walnuts, cinnamon, and carrots make this a heavy favorite. Cream cheese frosting is the popular choice but for a change of pace we suggest our thick apricot filling.

Red Velvet
A light chocolate cake flavor with a deep red color create a unique dessert, filled with a cream cheese frosting or cream mousse is favored as the grooms cake in many southern states.

Marble Chip
Swirls of white and chocolate cake gracefully mingle together. Sliced bananas folded into a rich chocolate mousse, alternating with fudge complete this dessert.
