Festive Fridays: Some color on your day!

Okay so we saw this one gown and it was so wild and so crazy it inspired this post in itself! We hope you enjoy reading this as much as we enjoyed searching for our favorite colorful creations.

While many brides wear white, there are definitely options out there for you, if you're a not-so-white type of bride. Here are a few of the best that we saw and they caught our attention.

This Max Chaoul Couture is our favorite of the post! It's just stunning, while it's different it's also EPIC in our eyes.

This pink Lady Roi gown is sweet! It's still delicate and feminine, yet definitely has some sass to it.

This next gown reminds us of a Belle of the Ball! Yellow is so bright and happy, this would be perfect for a Southern wedding.

Too Sweet not to Share: Peacock Inspired Favor

One of our brides is giving her guests flower seeds as their wedding favor, for her Peacock inspired wedding. They are just too sweet not to share!

She found the handmade favors on Etsy of course and we are very excited to pair these with the rest of her day.

Through this favor, we have now come up with another layer to her already sassy Peacock concept. Using the "all things grow with love" quote to inspire us, we are now going to incorporate love as the common bond between all other aspects of her day. Throughout the ceremony and reception there will be love quotes and sayings representative to what they are next to. This will start when guests first arrive and continue cohesively through the ceremony, cocktail area, place cards, dinner reception, dancing and of course that extra sweet dessert buffet! We are so excited to work with her on this special addition to her concept.

Here are a few sneak peak inspirations...

For the "Make a Wish Take a Kiss" display

For the Photo Booth, we'll do something similar to this except maybe have it say... "Love the Camera: Strike a Pose!" We'll also add a sweet quote about love and photos.

We're definitely going to work on a few others like a sign for near the dance floor... Just love this quote!

Dance with me in love
Dance with me in life
When did enduring love begin?
The day we became man and wife

Stay tuned for these Love filled pictures coming up in June!

Fantasy Frostings Builds a Cake for the Earthday Whale Fest!

Yesterday we had the privilege of attending an Earthday Whale West at Leo Carrillo State Park with the Fantasy Frostings Fam plus the lovely Holly Steen from Cakes and Kisses Photography. In addition we were joined by the adorable Holly Durst and sweet as pie Tenley Molzahn. The weather was perfect and even the whales came swimming by to say hello as Leslie, Earl and the gang finished up the final details of this awesome tiered whale cake!

The details on this tiered beauty were awesome! Between the waves and fishy's, it was so colorful and full of things like bubbles and even a sunshine!

Here's Leslie assembling the final details... Here comes the sun ladies and gentleman!

Mr. and Mrs. Frosting are so sweet and in love! We can't wait for their wedding later this year!

Ladies give kisses to the masterpiece! So cute!

The final result! A bright and vibrant masterpiece for all festival guests to enjoy!

They did! Nice work everyone, now the party starts!!!

Mr. Frosting looks proud!

Last but not least, Tenley and Holly made friends and played a lil' dress-up. Definitely one of our fave shots from the day!

Such a fun day to be a part of, we were so happy to be there and celebrate this special day! Thank you so much to Holly for these vivid caketacular photos, visit her blog to see more great photos from the celebration!

Happy Earth Day!

Quote of the Day: What he said...

We've been in quote land this week and for that we are sharing one of our favorites!

I dreamed of a wedding of elaborate elegance,
A church filled with family and friends.
I asked him what kind of a wedding he wished for,
He said one that would make me his wife.

Featured Wedding: Dana + Robert

Dana and Robert were married on March 27th, 2010 at the beautiful Bel-Air Bay Club. This was a very special wedding for the sole purpose that Sterling Engagements was not the planner, but actually Alexandra Rembac (me, Alex) was actually a bridesmaid. So this blog is very special and personal to me. I'm choosing to feature it because not only did Micah and Megan of Micah Dahlberg Photography do an absolutely stellar job but I also hold this very dear to my heart.

So without further ado...

Dana's gown was an Amsale, it's the Cecily gown which is a fit and flare design featuring double organza, a layered bodice and an amazing sparkly brooch. Her shoes were the Hyde Pump by Badgley Mischka.

I just absolutely adore this picture of Dana. She looked so beautiful on her wedding day but this picture specifically just says it all. Micah did such a great job with her bridal portraits too!

Dana and Robert's first look was probably one of the most powerful first looks I have ever seen. As you can see with the picture below it was very emotional, not just for the bride and groom but also for us bridesmaids too!

Dana and Robert's ceremony was overlooking the ocean and so beautiful! The Bel-Air Bay Club has one of most favorite views looking out in all of Los Angeles.

The reception was so elegant and beautiful, Dana and Robert chose to do it in the living room instead of the ballroom and I loved this choice! The hardwood floors in the living room are so great!

I saved this picture for the last spot because it's just my favorite. Dana is always smiling and laughing when Robert is around and this picture just represents them, especially on their wedding day perfectly.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Bisi! I'm so happy for the two of you and it was such a pleasure to be your bridesmaid. Your were the prettiest of brides and your day was so special. I'm so grateful for our friendship and all the memories we've shared throughout the years. I wish you two the best as newlyweds and in the coming future... Love you both!

Shoe Shot Sunday: Jenny + Matt

Today we spent the day with our favorite Cake Designer of all time, Leslie Maynor of Fantasy Frostings. She was filming for a new TV reality show on cakes and designed a Fabulous Cake down at Leo Carrillo State Park! Following the filming, we returned to our office to play with details about her own upcoming wedding. Something homey, sweet and Yellow inspired! We were so excited to play with Yellow that we decided to make today's shoe shot just that! This post is dedicated to you Ms. Leslie!

Jenny and Matt were married in Pennsylvania and their was photographed by Rachel Hadiashar of Merge Weddings. We just adore her shoe style... check it out!

Festive Fridays: Colorful Soda Bars!

Since specialized bars and buffets have been so hot over the past couple years, we thought this weeks Festive Friday would pay homage to a beverage specialty bar.

Add a little extra color to your special day with a festive themed soda bar. Whether you go vintage with old vintage flavors like cream soda or go modern with fruity concoctions like the Izze brand of soda's either route is sure to sip deliciously.

In addition you can go as far as designing it with specific colors or even favorite flavors. However you choose to theme it, this is one specialty bar guests will be sure to love!

Fun Straws are always a cute addition as well! Or even Love Knot Straws.

Happy Sipping!

Words of Wisdom Wednesdays: Bank on what you consider to be your Cons

Have you ever heard the quote "One man's trash is another man's treasure"? This can even be true with weddings and events more than many often realize. Today's wisdom is all about going beyond the ordinary and pushing things to a point that turns what you many consider to be a negative into a positive.

We are often approached with clients that fall in love with their venue or even dress and other things, but still find reasons to feel insecure with what we like to call "kiwi's". A kiwi is brown and fuzzy on its exterior, which we admit is not the prettiest of fruits... but once cut open, it's not to bad on the eyes right? The beautiful green color, the seeds, the lighter center, it's textured and they even taste good!

Point were trying to make, is sometimes look beyond what you think is a problem or you have an issue with and simply embrace it. Sometimes the biggest elephants in the room can just be given a little TLC or even turned around and they will transition into something you just love!

Try thinking about something that has maybe bothered you and see if you can put it into prospective. Having a hard time, comment and give me your scenario... I'll respond with some ideas.

Happy Contemplation!
